Drawing upon folklore, oral traditions, and surviving iconography, the case of Senakanda Biso Bandara provides powerful evidence that pre-Victorian Sri Lankan culture embraced open and diverse views on identity, challenging the rigid traditionalism that currently inhibits tolerance toward the LGBTQIA+ community.
